I really don't want to be a drama queen with this, but I feel it needs to be said.

Recently, I did some screenshots for the [[Temple of the Eye]] quest before [[user:Spineweilder]] (who usually does them) got to them. Of course, once he ''did'' get to the page, he replaced all of the screenshots I took with his own.

Ordinarily I don't object to them doing screenshot replacements - the ones I made for [[2022 Birthday event]] were frankly shabby and needed to be replaced. But in the case of Temple of the Eye I made a concerted effort to keep the screenshots to the wiki standard, and Spinewilder still disregarded all of my screenshots and replaced them with his own.

I think we need to definitely clarify this policy: do admins have the authority to unilaterally replace screenshots on pages? How should we determine who gets to make the screenshots? :@SacKings, the image replacements definitely aren't a personal attack or anything, just an attempt to keep a consistent resolution standard across the wiki. Are you using the stretched mode plugin on RuneLite or a retina display by any chance (or some other sort of upscaling)? '''No support''' - I'd let [[User:Spineweilder|Spineweilder]] overwrite my left nut if he thought it was a net improvement to the wiki. Seriousness aside, this kind of thing can happen very easily and unintentionally when batching uploads. I also don't think it's terribly important whose name appears on the file revision. What's important is that the file is consistent with others of its kind, and that it faithfully depicts the material as presented in game, with (ideally) no alterations. As for your questions:

My answer would be "yes", but that affirmation extends to all editors, provided they are editing in good faith... though it would be unusual for this to be necessary. The nature of wiki editing is making unilateral changes, or coming to a community consensus in the case of large-scale edits. There is no requirement for any editor, admin or otherwise, to consult with the community at large if they believe they are editing in good faith — especially for something as basic as uploading a new version of an image.

It isn't important who "gets" to upload images; it is a first-come first-serve basis. [[RuneScape:Ownership#Files|No one owns anything]] here. For the case of detailed item image renders or NPCs, it is best to leave it to someone with access to ''The Renderer''™, or if possible, to pull the image from [[User:riblet15|riblet]]'s [https://chisel.weirdgloop.org/moid/ Minimal OSRS Item Database] tool.

Sure. If you notice someone has overwritten your image with an image of unacceptable quality, you may consider reverting it.

If you believe your version of the image to be a more accurate depiction, before loosing the proverbial artillery and potentially engaging in a [[RS:3RR|reversion war]], consider discussing it directly with the editor. There are many ways to reach out. [[meta:Discord|Discord]] is one option that has been mentioned; a [[Special:MyTalk|talk page]] is also a suitable place for such a discussion.
