Update Note from 14 February 2024 Forestry Changes:

Based on the Forestry Changes Update, the established event-hopping meta has shifted. Players must now maintain their reward eligibility in an area to receive full participation rewards (Anima/Full Exp/Whistle/Garland/Golden egg). If a chat message is received indicating that the player is 'not eligible for full rewards' then these items cannot be received. Receiving God Egg nests from Entling events is the only exception to this, as they do not require eligibility.

For players seeking strategies about the best methods for increasing anima rates or total eligible event rates (for chances at the Forestry unique items), check out the Forestry Events Meta page for more details about where and how to "multispot" your eligibility!

Calls Guide Overview

This guide serves as an overview of best practices for calling out forestry events in a chat-channel, and provides a list of the established 'calls' that you may see used in a chat-channel. The primary use of event callouts in the current version of Forestry is for players seeking to teleport to Friendly Entling events to receive the God Egg nest upon completion, as this is the only reward (uniques/anima/full xp) that can be gained without having 'eligiblity' for the area of the spawn. Players can join the chat-channel 'Forestry cc' on world 444 where other players will call out the locations of the Entling events, when they are spotted. Note that all calls in this channel should be for world 444 only, as players are unable to worldhop to an event spawn and receive anything.

To improve the efficiency and overall experience of calling and teleporting to Entling events, players may carry certain teleports that provide convenient access to several locations, as well as use several easy to setup Runelite plugins. More help can be found from the nice Forestry CC Discord community: Forestry CC Discord

Ents

Though players who are ineligible for rewards when hopping to ent calls will receive minimal xp and no anima, all participating players will still receive a God Egg Nest if all 5 ents are fully trimmed. As such, all ent events should still be called out regardless of where they spawn. Given the recent changes to how the scaling of events functions now, the current strategy for whether to "spam" or to "stall" is generally: "spam" trims on the ents with correct prunes upon arrival unless the call includes "stall" or "solo/duo" or "low pop" (low population spawn). Additionally, if you see a callout in the chat-channel from a high-ranked member about what to do in the current scenario, follow the direction in their call.

  • "Stall" may be called, and is the method to use when approaching a "no spam, "solo/duo," or "low pop" called (a low-tier scaled spawn) ent event. This means trim incorrectly, preferably by trimming a pruned entling. Or, by waiting to see what haircut the entling announces, and trimming incorrectly. Then when Spam is later called, proceed to correctly prune the entlings to finish the event. If the entlings display the "time to go" message, that is always an indication to begin Spamming.
  • "Spam" will usually be called to end the ent event as quickly as possible, and means to trim correctly and quickly according in the style requested by the entling (top/side/back). In the cases where no form of Stall has been called, or the Callout was "L" (Late) or "P" (relayed from the Event Scouting Plugin), players should Spam correct prunes to finish the event.
  • Due to the variability in HP of the entlings, meaning how many trims required to fully prune, it is important to closely follow these calls which are usually given by an experienced player, or high rank in Forestry CC. The factor to determine the number of correct prunes necessary to complete the event is determined by the number of players chopping the tree at the time of spawn, scaling up with the number of choppers in the area. Also, when overlapping ent events are called, an experienced player may call to "stall" one location, while "spamming" another, based on likelihood of successfully completing both events.

Call Format

Calls are typically abbreviated to assist with speed of calls, but try remain an easily recognizable location or teleportation method. For example, Draynor Village Willows location = "Dray"; West Kourend Woodlands Yews location = "Rada W", as the Rada Blessing Kourend Woodland teleport, followed by running West provides directional information within the call "location" name. In some cases the Fairy Ring code and direction may also be used, for example "Bjp W" to indicate taking the Bjp fairy ring to Souls Isle and running West.

  • New call: Location + Event Name
    • Example: If an Entling event spawns in Draynor Village, someone will call out "Dray ent". The location is preferably stated first, followed by the event, but either order is accepted.
  • Late or possibly late call: Location + Event Name + L
    • Used if players were not present, or are uncertain if they were present at the time of the event spawning. 'L' or 'Late' is added to the callout to indicate that it either is, or may be, a late call (for example, "Dray ent L" or "Dray ent Late").
  • "Event Scouting" Plugin call: Location + Event Name + P
    • Used when calling out events from the Discord plugin calls channel, within the FC. (for example, "Dray ent P" or "Dray ent Plugin").
  • Ending a call: Location + D
    • Players will also call out when a specific location's event is dead/done using the applicable location's abbreviation followed with the letter 'D' (for example, "Dray D"). Ending a call helps others know that they should no longer hop to the location. The event name should not be repeated when ending a call, as many players use the "Chat Notifications" plugin and would receive another ping, if it is included. In the case of Friendly Ent events, the 'D' call should also include the number of Entlings which were successfully pruned to completion during the event (for example, "Dray D 3/5" or "Dray D 5/5" if three or all five Entlings, respectively, were completed).

Locations

The following is a list of abbreviated terms used to call out events. Main and uncommon locations are preferred and regularly used in that order. Obscure locations are included for reference, but are unlikely to be as helpful as a main or uncommon location, and may even affect the ability to reach subsequent calls if teleported to. For this reason, all main and uncommon locations should be strongly prioritized ahead of obscure ones. Players should likely refrain from calling unlisted locations in the chat-channel.

Receiving Call Notifications

Due to the volume of calls, it's highly recommended that you use setup notifications for the events you want to attend. One simple method is to use the base Runelite plugin, Chat Notifications. You may either type the call names of the events in the Highlighted words text field in the Chat Notifications settings menu, or simply copy your preferred one of the 'Regex' scripts below and paste this into Highlight Regex text field.

The regex will now only notify when event name and location are present. This means you will not be notified when the event name is mentioned in non-call player chats or for game chats that include the event name, such as picking up the egg during pheasant event. For more info on setting up call notifications and additional helpful tips and plugins, you may join the Forestry CC Discord community.

  1. ^ A regular expression (shortened as regex or regexp), sometimes referred to as rational expression, is a sequence of characters that specifies a match pattern in text. This regex will notify you whenever there is a Forestry Event name + location call in the same friends chat message.
