Standard dialogue
- Bartak: Oh no! What's broken?
- Player: What? Nothing's broken.
- Bartak: I'm sorry. I'm just a bit jumpy.
- Bartak: I'm in charge of all the metalworking of Dorgesh-Kaan. It's a big responsibility!
- Bartak: If something metal breaks I have to fix it. And lots of things are made of metal!
- Player: Don't worry, I'm sure you're up to the task!
- Bartak: I hope you're right.

When trying to smelt ores at the furnace near Bartak
- Bartak: Get away from that furnace!
- Player: Are you worried I'll break your furnace?
- Bartak: I'm worried the furnace will break you!
- Bartak: It's set up to make glass and jewellery at the moment. It's not safe to use it to smelt ore. What if you accidentally burn yourself?
- Bartak: What if you accidentally burn yourself and the surface people see that you're burnt and use that as a pretext to attack us?
- Bartak: We'd all be killed in our sleep! And it would be my fault!
- Bartak: No, no, no, no, no - I can't take the risk.
- Player: Alright, calm down! I won't use your furnace. To smelt ore.

When using the take option on the nearby tools
- Bartak: What do you think you're doing?
- Player: Um...may I use your tools?
- Bartak: Oh, no, no!
- Bartak: Those are highly technical tools. They're not like the tools you use on the surface.
- Bartak: What if you hurt yourself with them? I could be held responsible!
- Bartak: No, I think it's best if I don't let anyone use the tools.
- Player: Oh well.
