Dentristus was a farm hand who was in love with his lord's daughter, Arastasia, though he knew he would never win her hand.[1] During a harsh winter, the Wintertodt was drawn from the north devouring animals and crops,[2] devastating villages along its path.[3] He vowed to stop the Wintertodt, for he could not bear to see Arastasia in despair.[4] The lord offered Arastasia's hand in marriage if he were to be successful.[5]

Geared with his lord's best armour and weapon,[6] he followed the trail of destruction that the Wintertodt had left behind. Destrius lay dead before he ever saw the wintertodt, frozen to the bone.[7] A grim reminder the Wintertodt could not be fought alone.
