Old Chief Svinulf was a former chieftain of Rellekka and predecessor of Brundt the Chieftain. He is mentioned by Pontak in the Postbag from the Hedge, where Pontak reminiscences his own Fremennik Trial, which was given to him by Svinulf, consisting of a challenge to build a longship with nothing but a glass hammer and a box of assorted knots, which ended up taken Pontak a week to do. Quite embittered by the harsh trial, Pontak's own impossible requests during Fremennik Trials stems from this.
