While all in-game references to Guthix make use of the masculine form, when asked about being a "guy or a girl" in one of the god letters, Guthix responds, "I am Guthix. I am neither, and I am both. Thou canst not define a god as thou wouldst define a mortal." While these letters are no longer considered canon, this ambiguity has led some people to propose a gender-neutral designation for Guthix.
