The Citharede Abbey is a small abandoned abbey found on the eastern end of the Giants' Plateau east of Al Kharid. In the past, followers of Saradomin appear to have lived here, but seem to have eventually abandoned the abbey, resulting in it falling into disrepair.

Getting there

Players can get to the Abbey by using an amulet of glory to teleport to Al Kharid and running east through the gate, using a ring of dueling to teleport to the Emir's Arena and travelling south-east, or by using the Grouping teleport to Giants' Foundry and running east.

Trivia

  • In RuneScape, the Citharede Abbey is inhabited by nuns instead of being abandoned, and is the location for the murder mystery quest One Piercing Note.
  • The name 'Citharede' comes from the musical instrument 'Cithara', which was the sacred instrument of Saint Elspeth, the namesake of the abbey in RuneScape.
  • Prior to the release of the Ferox Enclave, an NPC named Sister Scarophia could be found on the hills east of Al Kharid, who alluded to the possible existence of the Citharede Abbey when spoken to.[1] However, with the actual introduction of the Abbey, she was moved to a chapel within the Ferox Enclave, and her dialogue was adjusted to no longer reference the Abbey.
  • Initially this location was simply referred to as 'an abbey' in the news post announcing its release.[2] In the next update just a few days later however it was first referred to as the 'Citharede Abbey' in a small bullet point within the 'In Other News' section.[3]
