Illerai:Supplemental guides
The wiki is creating a space where anyone can put tips, strategies, or other information onto the wiki, without having to match the usual wiki formatting and style guidelines that are expected in the main article space. We call these supplemental guides, and they exist in the Guide namespace (that just means the page names have Guide: at the start). The guide namespace is a great location for:
- Specialised information you have on Discord that you want to make easier for people to find
- High-level strategies that might be too advanced for regular strategy pages
- Guides aimed at specific account builds that may not fit into the main article space
- Casual guides written by editors who aren't familiar with wiki formatting but still want to share their knowledge
Getting started
To make a new Guide page, just put the name of your guide into the form below and click "Create page". Try to choose a name for the guide that makes it clear what the guide page is for and/or which editor or group is involved in writing the guide. For example, the name UIM Skiller Quest Guide is pretty clear what the guide is about, rather than something vague like Skill tips.
Once you've got the page started, make sure to add the Guide header at the top by putting {{Guide|YourUsernameOrGroupNameHere}} on the first line, and then the rest is up to you! It's okay if the page is a bit rough or the guide isn't close to finished, so don't let that stop you from starting up a new guide!
If you have questions about editing the page, formatting stuff, including images/videos, or anything else, feel free to join the Wiki Discord, and ask for help in the #wiki-osrs channel (feel free to ping bigdiesel or cookmeplox too).
Files
You are (of course) welcome to use any existing files on the wiki in the namespace. If you want to use an image or other file in your guide that isn't on the wiki, there's a few ways to do that:
- If the image is hosted somewhere else on the web, use Template:Extimage to place it on the page. Check the template page for documentation on how to use it, or ask for help in the Discord.
- If you want to upload a new file to the wiki, begin the file name with "Guide - ", and then choose a descriptive file name. An example of a good file name would be
File:Guide - UIM Skiller Herb Route.png - Small video files (less than 8MB) can be uploaded to the wiki in either .mp4 or .webm format. For larger videos, you can use Template:Youtube to embed videos from YouTube onto a page.
Files that do not follow these guidelines may be removed or renamed at the discretion of the wiki administrators.
