Sled Racing is an activity that originated as part of the 2020 Christmas event. On 6 January 2021, sled racing was made a permanent addition to Gielinor while the remainder of the 2020 Christmas event was removed from the game. Players can access the activity by travelling to the Goblin Village and going into the cave entrance located in the northwest corner of the village, which leads to the starting lobby area of the sled racing course underground cavern. Players can then find a sled in the starting area which is required to race down the course.
While the sled is in your inventory, left-click "Ride sled" and you will ride the sled; you can move around the starting lobby area; you will slide around the area while your feet propel the sled forward. Note that this is a different item to the sled obtained during the Troll Romance quest, and the two are not interchangeable. The only two places in all of Gielinor in which you can ride around the sled found here are the sled racing starting lobby area, and the sled racing course itself. If you try to left-click "Ride sled" in any other location in Gielinor, then you receive the message, "You cannot use that here!"
Racing the course
The objective of the sled race course is to get to the finish line in as little time as possible. The entire length of the sled race course will be either two squares or three squares in width. The sled is controlled using the mouse.
Throughout the sled race course, there will be points where one will speed up or down. If the race course is two squares in width at the speed up/slow down point, then one square will have lines (speed up) and one square will have spots (slow down). If the race course is three squares in width at the speed up/slow down point, there will be one square with lines (speed up) and two squares will have spots (slow down). The player's objective is to click on the squares that have lines, and not on the squares that have spots.
Idling for too long and logging out on the sled racing course will leave the player back in the sled racing lobby.
The sledding course grants no rewards, but one can receive a new personal best by beating the course faster than in previous attempts.
After completing the sled racing course, the player will find themselves in the sled racing course finish area with Scrubfoot, Green fireflies, and Red fireflies. In this area, a crevice in the cavern wall will allow the player to return to the starting lobby area of the sled racing course. In the sled racing course finish area, one can to talk to Scrubfoot, but the green fireflies and the red fireflies will only have an examine option.
