Standard dialogue

When trying to climb the chain before speaking

  • Taala: Excuse me, human! Perhaps you shouldn't just go wandering through there without knowing what you're dealing with!
  • (End of dialogue)

Initial dialogue

  • Player: Hello! Are you the leader of this expedition?
  • Taala: Indeed I am, human! What's on your mind?
  • Player: What's going on here?
  • Taala: Well, the Hueycoatl has awoken.
  • Player: The Huey- what?
  • Taala: Huey-co-at... oh, I don't have time for this! The thing you need to know is that it's dangerous and it's coiled throughout this entire mountain!
  • Player: Do you know where it came from?
  • Taala: We're not sure. There are some records of our ancestors having dealings with it, but the details have been lost, assuming they were ever recorded.
  • Player: So it's old?
  • Taala: Does it really matter how old it is?
  • Player: I suppose not. I guess I just want to get a better understanding of what this thing is.
  • Taala: We don't know how old it is. It could be extremely old, or this could be just one in a lineage of them. Still, we haven't heard of any others so maybe it is some sort of ancient creature.
  • Player: And given that you're here, I assume it poses some sort of threat?
  • Taala: Now you're getting it! While it doesn't seem to be innately aggressive, our concern is the potential risk of it tunnelling into Cam Torum.
  • Taala: Oh, and given that it does lash out from time to time, I suppose it does pose a threat to your nearby human villages. A lesser priority for us, but maybe something for you to care about.
  • Taala: Anyway, for now, our only option is to keep it in check while we figure out what to do in the long term.
  • Taala: Unfortunately, that means recruiting all the help we can get, even from you humans...
  • Player: How can I help?
  • If the player has not completed Perilous Moons:
    • Taala: Well, despite what some of us may think of your kind, we need all the help we can get.

  • If the player has completed Perilous Moons:
    • Taala: Well, as you've already proven yourself useful to Cam Torum, I'd be glad to have you help here!
    • (Continues below)
  • Taala: We need to keep the Hueycoatl under control which, until we find a more permanent solution, means wearing it out through combat.
  • Taala: Don't go killing it, mind you! Not that I think you could, but such a magnificent creature doesn't deserve destruction.
  • Player: Do you have any tips for surviving?
  • Taala: We've found our prayers can protect us from its shards, so keep an eye out for those.
  • Taala: To reach the Hueycoatl's head, you'll need to get it to move its great body out of the way. We've found we can persuade it by giving the exposed parts a helpful nudge!
  • Taala: Once you reach its head, you'll need to work with your comrades and the seer to balance your prayers and weaken the beast.
  • Taala: But I'm sure you'll figure it out!
  • Player: Move the body, then attack the head while keeping prayers balanced. Got it!

    • Player: Are there any rewards for helping?
    • Taala: Ugh, you greedy humans.
    • Taala: The Hueycoatl displaces a lot of materials as it moves, including all sorts of items and treasures.
    • Taala: We collect as much as we can, so I suppose you can have a share for helping.
    • Player: That sounds good, thank you.
