Aelia,

I prayed this day would never come, but Wahisietel himself arrived today to confirm it. The Holy City of Senntisten has fallen. The Duke has ordered us to retreat to the refugee camp within the prison. The elders claim it's just a precaution, but we all know the truth. The fight for the Empire is over. Now we fight for survival.

I will not live out my days cowering in fear. The Empire has failed us, and it's time to make our own path. I intend to travel far from here, and while I know the chances are slim, I pray you can one day join me. If you do ever return, and if you do find this letter, I have hidden the things you need to find me within the dungeon outside the prison. This letter is the key to finding them.
