A well is a common object found throughout Gielinor, and is used as a source of obtaining water by using an empty bucket or cup on them. They are marked on the map with a icon, although other sources of water share the same icon.
The humble well was likely the third piece of scenery to be added to RuneScape, since it has the third scenery ID in RuneScape Classic, only after the two types of tree. Its original location would have been in Lumbridge, right next to spawn, though that location was removed on transition to RuneScape 2.
