Magic is the only reliable way of dealing damage to them, as Ranged attacks are heavily reduced, and Melee cannot be used.

It's generally not recommended to kill normal cave krakens as they have very poor drops that will not cover the cost of runes, and the boss is relatively easy with a more generous drop table. If the player is not willing to kill the boss, the task should be skipped.

The only exception to killing the normal variants are ironmen seeking the Trident of the seas drop, as they have a 1/200 drop rate for an uncharged trident.
