To begin, speak to Marika in the South Falador Farm. The holiday event icon displays the location of the event on the world map and minimap.

Walkthrough

Speak to Marika in the South Falador Farm. She has grown pumpkins of various colours to connect with a loved one's spirit by making a big picture of something they liked with the pumpkins. Unfortunately for her, crows have come pecking at her pumpkins and moving them around. Agree to help her to be given a picture map.

There are 16 pumpkins that have been moved around. Pick them from the field using the given map. The picked pumpkins will be thrown to Marika, with Marika throwing them into the nearby storage bin. When done, return to Marika.

Marika will suggest dealing with the crows first before planting new seeds. Pick a pumpkin of your choosing from the storage bin near Marika, then carve it however you like at the table nearby, and finally use it on the nearby scarecrow. Return to Marika to find that the crows are not spooked by the scarecrow and instead fly and sit on it, albeit they are no longer pecking at the pumpkins.

Marika will then ask the player to plant the pumpkin seeds for them, although she is waiting for Postie Pete to deliver new seeds for her as a courtesy. After a short cutscene, she will give you some seed packets. Plant the seeds according to the picture map, or use the image above to quickly reference which key to press on your keyboard to plant the correct seed.

Once the seeds have been planted, return to Marika for the crops to magically grow in mere seconds. Before rewarding the player, the conversation gets interrupted by the appearance of a ghost cat. After Marika and the cat performing several sequence of movements, she informs that the cat was indeed the spirit of their loved one and thanks you for helping her.

Congratulations! Event complete!

(update)
  • A third chat option has been added to proceed to the ghost cat cutscene if Audio Settings were muted.
  • The Jack-O-Lanterns on the north-eastern side of the Draynor Village bank have been rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise and moved one tile west to prevent path blocking.
  • Various scenery causing players to teleport tiles when on the tile directly south of Miss Schism has been adjusted so that it no longer occurs.

Trivia

  • If the player has their in-game sounds muted when the ghost cat first makes a noise, Marika will ask if the player has a mute spell on, then give them the option to dispell it (ie. turn their sound back on so they can hear the "mew" sound).
  • The event was developed by Mod Maylea,[1] who did so as a tribute to someone dear to them who in turn lost someone dear to both of them. The person in question loved cats, who is represented as the ghost cat in the event.
  • If the player is wearing both Morytania legs 3, and a Catspeak amulet, they will tell Marika they can actually understand the ghost cat, and will be able to understand the cat calling Marika's name.

It's not the greatest Halloween event but it IS a tribute."
