Axe Enthusiast is a grandmaster combat achievement which requires the player to kill Vardorvis after surviving for 3 minutes during his enrage phase, whilst never leaving the central quadrant of the fight area.

Strategy

Stand inside the marked area in the image for this achievement.

Vardorvis will initiate the enrage phase upon reaching ~33% of his health (~231 health); it is recommended to position at the centre at 250 health to avoid failing the achievement. Knowledge of axe skipping is highly encouraged, as they can avoid a lot of damage. Standing near the edges of the quadrant (as indicated with the picture) and running towards the centre will help dodge axes that come in from one direction. Weaken Vardorvis to roughly ~50 or so health to kill him as soon as possible after the three minutes are up while factoring in heals from his melee attacks, which are 50% of the total inflicted. He should not hit too hard even with low health, roughly up to 10 or so when protected against.

If any axes need to be tanked, using Protect from Melee will help reduce damage; the player only has to survive in the centre for 3 minutes, not perfectly avoid mechanics. As such, brews are more beneficial to tank extra damage over standard food, though with good experience, little to no food will be needed at all.

The Staff of the dead proves to be both an offensive and defensive weapon for this achievement given its option of slash-based attack style and its special attack which halves all melee damage taken for 1 minute at the cost of 100% special energy. A Dinh's bulwark will help tank hits and reduce damage as well.
