Two buckets can be found in the village of Witchaven as elements of non-interactive scenery. One is located on the 1st floor[UK]2nd floor[US] of the southernmost house, while the other stands just outside of Lovecraft's Tackle, the fishing store. The examine text of the two buckets state that they are used as a container for night soil, which is a euphemism historically used to refer to excrement. As such, the buckets may function as makeshift toilets for the fishing hamlet.
