Heraldic crest
A heraldic crest, also known as the player's family crest is the insignia used by the player to identify their family ancestry. Heraldic crests are primarily used as an extension of the Construction skill and do not play a role in any quests.
Obtaining a heraldic crest
A random heraldic crest is assigned to the player when first talking to Sir Renitee with 16 Construction (boostable).
The current heraldic crest can be viewed or changed by talking to Sir Renitee. A player can only have one heraldic crest at a time.
Heraldic crest options
There are a total of sixteen heraldic crests that can be chosen from. Sir Renitee can be asked to change the player's current heraldic crest for a fee.
- Some crests have additional requirements or costs; see Sir Renitee#Family crest for more information.
Uses
The following player-owned house objects are affected by the heraldic crest, and will automatically update whenever the heraldic crest is changed:
- Oak wall decoration
- Teak wall decoration
- Gilded decoration
- Round shield (construction)
- Square shield (construction)
- Kite shield (construction)
The heraldic crest has NO impact to the following Chapel objects (which are only affected by the Icon space):
Painting heraldic items
The Heraldry space in a Workshop can be used to create heraldic banners, as well as to paint the following steel, adamant, and rune equipment with the player's heraldic crest:
Multiple copies of heraldic equipment can be made, and equipment painted with different crests be owned at the same time; the crest requirement is for painting the equipment, not for equipping it.
Painted equipment does not have any stat changes compared to their unpainted version. However, all painted equipment is members-only, untradeable and the painting process is irreversible with one exception:
- Upon dying an unsafe death in PvP, any unprotected heraldic items will be converted to their unpainted equivalent.
