The mysterious hooded monk is encountered during the Devious Minds quest. He can be found outside of Paterdomus Temple, a church on the border between Misthalin and Morytania. In the quest, the monk asks the player to make him a bow-sword, for which they need to use Doric's whetstone, found in his hut. Players will need a mithril 2h sword, a bow string and level 65 Smithing to be able to do this.

By the end of the quest it is heavily implied that the monk is actually the assassin impersonating a monk by killing him and stealing and wearing his robes. The player finds the corpse of the actual monk, who apparently has been killed by powerful magic.
