An island could originally be found in the middle of the River Salve. It was added with the release of The Dig Site in 2003. It was possibly added as a placeholder to ensure there was terrain on the other side of the river, as otherwise the player would have appeared to be panning for gold in the ocean.

With the release of RuneScape 2, the island was expanded to the east.

The island itself was empty except for some trees and bushes. Eventually, it was removed from the game entirely in a hidden update on 30 August 2005.
