Skeletons are undead monsters that can be assigned as tasks at combat level 15 by various low-level Slayer masters. They are often found in cemeteries and dungeons. A good strategy to kill them is to use melee with a weapon with crush bonuses (such as a Viggora's chainmace) and a salve amulet or salve amulet (e), due to their low defence against that style of attack.

Another strategy to kill them would be with magic, using the Crumble Undead spell on them.

Players who seek a greater challenge can choose to kill Vet'ion or Calvar'ion. These bosses are significantly stronger than the typical skeleton, but provide plenty of rewards for players who seek to kill them. In order to access Calvar'ion, the player must have completed the Medium Wilderness Diary. Vet'ion has no requirements to access, but is deeper in the Wilderness and resides in a multicombat area. Accessing the bosses requires a one-time payment of 50,000 coins, which must be repaid again if the player dies to another player in the Wilderness. Note that the skeletal hellhounds they summon also count towards the task, so every kill at the boss is equal to five skeletons per spawn.

If players are not seeking to kill either skeleton boss but are assigned them in the Wilderness, an ideal location would be the Edgeville Dungeon, as there is a good cluster of skeletons that can be easily cannoned and has a quick escape, provided that the player is paying attention.

Exceptions

  • Although it is insinuated in Tarn's diary that skeletal wyverns are undead, they are in fact re-animated remains, whereas actual undead creatures have come back to life. This causes the Salve amulet and its enchanted versions to not work against them.
  • The Skeleton hellhound summoned by Vanstrom Klause during the In Search of the Myreque quest although it looks like a skeleton, for some reason crumble undead does not work against this monster, and the salve amulet seems to have no effect.
