Black demons can be assigned as a slayer task at 80 combat level by various Slayer masters. They can be found in a variety of dungeons around Gielinor. Black demons can be easily killed using safespots when attacking with Ranged or Magic, or by using melee with the Protect from Melee prayer. As demons, they have high combat stats but rather low Defence for their level. They are weak to demonbane weapons, as well as water spells.

For lower-leveled players, black demon tasks can be very daunting, as their high Hitpoints and being forced to safespot them leads to very long tasks. Higher leveled players do not have this issue, especially with a cannon, though the demons have a near non-existent drop table and players should consider skipping the task if they are not willing to cannon them.

While the demons are generally not found with other monsters, it is recommended to complete these tasks at Taverley Dungeon if not doing so as part of Konar quo Maten's tasks. Apart from the Catacombs of Kourend (which has its unique table), every location allows for a cannon, increasing experience rates.

In the Wilderness, black demons are only found in two locations; Edgeville Dungeon and the Wilderness Slayer Cave. Both spots are under 20 Wilderness, though the latter is a multicombat area. However, it is generally more secure compared to Edgeville Dungeon, as there is only one entrance and hopping inside the area is generally more difficult due to the demons' aggression.

If the player is killing black demons that were assigned to them by any Slayer master other than Krystilia or Konar, they may choose to kill demonic gorillas instead. Accessing the gorillas requires completion of Monkey Madness II, along with two combat styles. Killing demonic gorillas are slower, though the profit generated from clearing entire tasks is much better.

Exceptions

• The black demon defeated during The Grand Tree can be killed again in the Nightmare Zone after the quest has been completed. Killing black demons in the Nightmare Zone will count as a kill for a Slayer task.
• Kolodion can only be killed once during the Mage Arena miniquest.
