Varrock Square is a square found directly south of Varrock Palace. It contains a large fountain with four statues on each side; the square's signature landmarks. The fountain is a monument to four princes who fell in battle against the forces of Morytania. Players teleporting to Varrock appear here, unless you have completed the medium Varrock Diary and changed your teleport to south of the Grand Exchange.

Varrock Square is one of the city's largest business centres, and as such hosts a number of shops and open-air stalls. Full stores such as the Varrock General Store, Thessalia's Fine Clothes, and Zaff's Superior Staves surround the square. Baraek's fur stall and Benny's newsstand, from which players can buy Varrock Herald newspapers, can be found in the north-east corner of the square while Eliza runs the Speedrunning Reward Shop in the south-east. Aris runs a fortune-telling tent adjacent to the square, although this is used only during the Demon Slayer quest. A number of non-player characters wander the square, including Shilop, Wilough, and Romeo. Romeo can be spoken to in order to begin the Romeo & Juliet quest. Toby can be found here to begin the Varrock Diary.

Trivia

  • During the 2013 and 2014 Christmas events, Varrock Square was covered in snow with a christmas tree in place of the centre fountain.
  • During the Mobile Anniversary event, the fountain was covered in cake.
  • A redesign for the grand central fountain was proposed in a Reddit post made by Mod Reach in 2014, which attempted to restore the fountain to its state of appearance prior to Varrock's New Look in 2007.[1]
