Praying to the Gods is a hard combat achievement which requires the player to kill the Chaos Fanatic 10 times, without drinking any potion which restores prayer, or leaving the Wilderness.
Strategy
This task prohibits the consumption of only the following items:
This means it is allowed to make use of several other prayer-restoring items, which notably includes the Falador shields and Moonlight Moths. Jangerberries and yellow spicy stew also do not cause failure of this task, however both of these items are not recommended for practical use. Players can also use the special attack on the Saradomin godsword or ancient mace to recharge their prayer, however due to the fanatic's high melee defences this an unreliable way to restore prayer points.
The suggested strategy for completing this task is to make use of the Wilderness Obelisk network, after having completed the hard Wilderness Diary which allows players to set a custom destination. Using these obelisks, players can teleport to the level 13 obelisk, then recharge their prayer at the altar just outside the Ferox Enclave, and then return to the level 44 obelisk to continue on the task. Note that entering the Enclave does reset progress, so the altar just east of it needs to be used.
Players may opt instead to use the Chaos altar found in the deep Wilderness Chaos Temple, which is just south-west of the Chaos Fanatic. However, due to this location being commonly patrolled by PKers and being a multicombat area, it is recommended to take more caution when using this altar.
F2P worlds don't have the problem of PKers in and around the chaos altar, so hopping to one before using it is a viable option. Just note, members food items will not work on f2p worlds. Also, if you're an Ironman, the first attack on the Chaos Fanatic after world hopping will not count as yours, so if it dies on that hit, the kill will not count. Logging out or hopping worlds does not reset your progress.
