The Saradomin godsword is one of the five variants of the godsword that was fought over during the God Wars. Requiring 75 Attack to wield, it is created by adding the Saradomin hilt to a completed godsword blade. If not purchasing it from another player, the hilt must be obtained by defeating Commander Zilyana in the God Wars Dungeon.

Players can attach a Saradomin godsword ornament kit, obtained from master clue scrolls, to the godsword. Doing so will cosmetically enhance the godsword, creating a Saradomin godsword (or); this only alters its appearance, and gives no stat enhancements. The godsword will become untradeable, but it can be dismantled, returning both the godsword and the kit.

Special attack

A player performs the Saradomin godsword's special attack, Healing Blade.

The Saradomin godsword has a special attack called Healing Blade, which consumes 50% of the player's special attack energy. When used, the player's max hit is increased by 10%, their accuracy is doubled, and Hitpoints and Prayer Points are restored equal to 50% and 25% of the damage dealt respectively, rounded up in even intervals. This effect only occurs on a successful hit, and any hit below 22 damage will always heal the player for 10 Hitpoints and restore 5 Prayer points. Healing Blade rolls against the opponent's slash defence roll.

The special attack is based on potential damage rolled, allowing it to restore health and prayer even if a monster has immunity to conventional weaponry. For example, kurasks can only be harmed by leaf-bladed weaponry, broad bolts, or the Magic Dart spell, but if the godsword would have otherwise hit a 40 were this immunity not in place, it would still heal the player for 20 hitpoints and restore 10 prayer points.

This mechanic also applies to any killing blows by the special attack; if a target has 2 hitpoints remaining and is struck with a special hit that would have dealt 60 damage, the player will still be healed for 30 hitpoints and have 15 prayer points restored.

Maximum restoration

The maximum health and prayer points restored from the special attack are 40 and 20 respectively. In order to achieve this, players would need to be in max strength, wearing a salve amulet (e), and attacking an undead creature on the aggressive style while praying Piety and drinking a super strength potion. This could result in the player potentially hitting an 80.

Animation

The special attack animation's colours can be changed to gold after purchasing the Golden Saradomin Special from Justine for 75 Last Man Standing points. Once unlocked, the animation can be toggled on or off at Justine's stuff for the Last Shopper Standing whenever the player desires.

Comparison to Guthan's

Players sometimes use the godsword's special attack to train melee skills against monsters, allowing them to reduce food and prayer usage over time. While the special attack allows for quick healing, it does not provide nearly as much healing opportunity as Guthan's armour. The following comparison assumes theoretical maximum healing, based on the assumption of constant damage in max strength; actual rates of healing will be lower for both weapons.

Because the special attack can only be performed twice every five minutes, the godsword can heal up to 80 hitpoints in that time, compared to the Guthan's set's potential to heal the player up to 52 hitpoints every twelve seconds. This produces a theoretical possibility of healing 1300 health with Guthan's set in the time it takes for the godsword's needed special attack to restore. Because of this, the Guthan's set dramatically outperforms the godsword in situations where continuous healing is required, provided the player can use Guthan's set to deal more than 1.067 damage per second.

This can be calculated as (Damage / Time to recharge special attack) = DPS -> , where refers to the amount of damage needed to have a 100% chance of healing 80 hitpoints, refers to the number of minutes it takes to restore a full Saradomin godsword special attack, and is the number of seconds in a minute. Since the Guthan's spear is a 5-tick weapon, this means the player will benefit more from Guthans any time they can consistently do 3.2 or more damage per hit, calculated as where is the number of ticks per attack, is the number of ticks in a second, and is the damage needed per second as calculated above.

The lightbearer item will also double potential healing of the godsword.

Used in recommended equipment

Lua error in Module:Used_in_recommended_equipment at line 69: SMW query failed. Since Godswords are two-handed weapons, they are not recommended for constant use against dragons, wyverns, or any monster requiring a shield to kill. However, the special attack can still be useful for its healing and prayer restoring effect with quick switches, especially at dragons when combined with other forms of dragonfire protection.

(update | poll)

The accurate attack style of the Godswords has been adjusted to use slash rather than crush. As the slash attack bonus on Godswords has always been higher than the crush bonus, having the accurate attack style of the weapons use slash rather than crush means that the accurate attack style takes advantage of the best offensive bonus of the weapon.
