The Voidwaker is a melee weapon that requires level 75 Attack to wield. It is acquired by having Madam Sikaro in the Ferox Enclave Dungeon reassemble the Voidwaker blade, hilt, and gem for a fee of 500,000 coins, which are obtained as rare drops from Vet'ion, Callisto, and Venenatis respectively (or their lesser counterparts).

Special attack

A player performing the Voidwaker's special attack, Disrupt.

The Voidwaker has a special attack, Disrupt, which consumes 50% of the player's special attack energy. The special attack deals guaranteed Magic damage between 50-150% of the wielder's maximum melee hit. The special attack will provide Magic experience with the same formula as powered staves.

The special attack is particularly useful due to its guaranteed medium to high damage. In PvP, it can be used for a consistent finishing blow and it pairs well with other high-damage special attack weapons such as the Armadyl or ancient godsword, dragon claws or granite maul due to its special attack cost. In PvM, it excels against opponents with high Defence and low-medium Hitpoints, such as Kalphite Queen, God Wars Dungeon bosses and Phosani's Nightmare, where dragon claws or other weapons would deal less damage on average and Defence reduction is less effective.

As it deals Magic damage, it is less effective against opponents with a Magic damage resistance, such as players using Protect from Magic or Great Olm's melee claw. Similarly, it deals full damage against the Corporeal Beast.

(update)

The special attack animation has been updated to use a slightly modified version of the Viggora's chainmace attack animation, rather than reuse that of the dragon warhammer.

History

Aside from the weapon's name, it is very similar to RuneScape's Korasi's sword as it was in 2010, which was given as an untradeable reward for completing the grandmaster quest The Void Stares Back. As the quest required 80 Magic, 71 Firemaking, 70 Construction, 70 Crafting, 70 Smithing, 55 Summoning, 10 Defence, and 78 Attack and Strength, these effectively acted as the requirements to wield the sword.

The Voidwaker's special attack also bears similarity to that of Korasi's sword. Despite sharing the name Disrupt with the original, the Voidwaker's special attack excludes the chain-hitting effect of Korasi's sword, which could damage up to two additional, adjacent targets for 50% and 25% of the first hit's damage in multi-combat areas. However, the Voidwaker's Disrupt only requires 50% special attack energy to use, as opposed to the original's 60%.

In comparison, the Voidwaker is a tradeable item, dropped in three tradeable parts (the blade, hilt, and crystal) from Callisto, Venenatis, and Vet'ion, and only requires level 75 Attack to wield. The Voidwaker also has slightly higher stats compared to the original iteration of Korasi's sword:

Item Attack bonuses Defence bonuses Other
Korasi's sword +60 +70 -2 0 0 0 +1 0 0 0 +70 0 0% 0
Voidwaker +70 +80 -2 +5 0 0 +1 0 +2 0 +80 0 0% 0

During Project Rebalance, Jagex proposed to alter the Voidwaker's special due to player concerns about its special attack, which was a guaranteed hit and would often hit very high, even through prayers. Initial proposals suggested to change the special attack to give an increased accuracy multiplier based on the target's Slash or Magic defence, whichever was lower. Both suggestions were not well-received, as these changes were primarily meant for player killing scenarios and would have a much more negative impact in player versus monster scenarios, as the monsters where the voidwaker was primarily used for had high slash and magic defence. On 24 April 2024, the proposals were shelved and the voidwaker was left as is for the time being.

Trivia

  • Despite the poll blog and newspost stating the Voidwaker requires level 75 Attack, 75 Strength, and 60 Magic to wield, the weapon only requires level 75 Attack to wield. It is not known whether this is an oversight or not.
