It is a popular weapon against enemies weak to stab, such as dragons. Due to its reasonable crush bonus, it is also often used against enemies weak to crush, such as Vet'ion. It also possesses the highest defensive bonuses for a one-handed melee weapon in stab, slash, and ranged. All of the stat bonuses remain the same as a Zamorakian spear, and it retains its special attack. As the hasta can be wielded with off-hand equipment such as a shield or defender, it is preferable over the spear in all instances except when fighting Corporeal Beast.
It can be upgraded to the dragon hunter lance by combining it with a hydra's claw, obtained from the Alchemical Hydra. The lance has 20% higher accuracy and damage against dragons and many other draconic creatures, but in the process it loses its defensive and prayer bonuses and some of its strength bonus.
To make or wield it, players must have completed the Fishing and Smithing parts of the Barbarian Trainingminiquest (This requires 55 Fishing). The Smithing section requires finishing the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest. Like the Zamorakian spear, the hasta requires an Attack level of 70.
The Zamorakian hasta has a special attack, Shove, which it shares with the dragon and Zamorakian spear. It pushes an opponent back and stuns them for three seconds, consuming 25% of the player's special attack energy.
The effects of this special are non-stackable, meaning that players cannot use the hasta's special attack on a target who is already stunned. In addition to this, players are given a one tick (0.6 seconds) period of immunity after a stun wears off in which they cannot be stunned again. In addition to this, as soon as the stun wears off, the stunned player is also granted a 5 tick (3.0 seconds) period of immunity against being bound in place by binding spells like Entangle or Ice Barrage.
In addition, it cannot be used against large monsters, such as giants, because they are too big to push back. If a player tries this, a regular attack occurs and no special attack energy is consumed. A message appears in the chat box, reading, "That creature is too large to knock back!" A general way to tell if the hasta can use the "Shove" special attack is to determine how much space the target monster takes up. If it takes up more than one space, it cannot be shoved. For example, a player can shove an ice warrior, which takes up one space, but not an ice giant, which takes up four.

Uses
The Zamorakian hasta can be effective against any monster that is weak to stab attacks. It also has crush and slash attack styles, but is easily outperformed by weapons such as the abyssal bludgeon, abyssal whip, abyssal tentacle and the inquisitor's mace. It could be effective against the Giant Mole, dark beasts, Suqah, lizardman shamans, dragons and wyrms, but is outperformed by weapons such as the ghrazi rapier, and when fighting against dragons or draconic creatures, the dragon hunter lance, which is produced by adding a hydra's claw to the hasta. It is also a very strong and viable weapon against several bosses such as Cerberus, General Graardor and the Kalphite Queen, when no stronger weapon is available. It suffers a 50% damage reduction against the Corporeal Beast, but the weapon can freely be reverted to its spear variant, in order to deal full damage against the Corporeal Beast. Reverting it to its hasta form however costs 300,000, or 150,000 after completing the Elite Kandarin Diaries. Its special attack can be used in PvP-scenarios to stun the opponent – either to allow for allies to deal lots of damage in multi-combat zones without giving the opponent the chance to heal, fight back or run temporarily, or conversely to stun the aggressor in order to give a three second window to heal up, teleport or run away from the PvP encounter.
