The trap takes up 2 spots. Players who fail to dodge the teleport trap will be teleported to the oubliette; if the dungeon does not contain an oubliette, players will be teleported to a random tile within the dungeon. If the dungeon contains multiple oubliettes, then players who fail to dodge the trap will be sent to the most expensive oubliette in the dungeon (or the one which was built last if multiple oubliettes are of equal value). Players who succeed in dodging the teleport trap will gain 20 Agility experience points, and jump to either side of the trap.
By pausing immediately before it, and then running to the other side, players may pass the trap in one tick and therefore avoid it. This requires knowing the location of the trap. Initially the trap is undetectable, but after it is triggered it will have an "examine pitfall" right click option. Moreover, it may only be placed on a square adjacent to the central 2x2 squares of a room. Therefore, players may traverse the room safely by always using running over squares which may potentially hold a trap.
The teleport trap has a 12% chance of being passed at level 1, 47% chance at level 50, and an 82% chance at level 99. This is a linear relationship. It is thus affected if your stats have been drained (i.e. by a marble trap by 5, causing a reduction in 3.9% chance) or boosted.[1] Weight does not factor into the success rate. When evading the trap, there is a 50/50 chance that you will either evade forwards or backwards.
