Aluft Gianne was the original owner of the Gnome Restaurant business in the Tree Gnome Stronghold. He offered a small tutorial on Gnome cooking, which allowed players to make gnome food, and sold premade versions of the food in Gianne's Restaurant. Afterwards, he would hire the player to cook specific foods for him, offering Coins and Cooking experience as a reward.

In 2006 the Gnome Restaurant was improved and expanded, changing the way in which the food is prepared and having the deliveries be made to clients instead. Aluft Gianne was split into two new characters, Aluft Gianne snr. and Gianne jnr. As a result, he has never been present in Old School RuneScape, although the character of Aluft Gianne snr. is very similar.
