Four bookcases can be found in the halls of Fenkenstrain's Castle as elements of interactive scenery. The two bookcases on the ground floor^[UK]1^st floor^[US] are of relatively little note, as searching them will only result in a short descriptive game message stating It is a bookcase full of books.

However, the two that can be found upstairs on the 1^st floor^[UK]2^nd floor^[US] play an important role during the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest, as searching them for specific volumes will reveal a secret compartment containing pieces of the star amulet. The bookcase in the western chamber hides the marble amulet, found by searching The Joy of Grave Digging; the eastern bookcase contains the obsidian amulet, found by searching for Handy Maggot Avoidance Techniques.

Apart from these two volumes, the player can also select a number of other entries, which will each result in a short descriptive statement.

Trivia

• The eastern bookcase upstairs used to have a book titled Men are from Morytania, Women are from Lumbridge which, when read, would state "You discover some fascinating insights into the mind of the female kind." However, it seems to have been removed from the game, possibly as part of the body type rework.
