Five buckets can be found on the ground floor[UK]1st floor[US] of the Port Sarim Jail as elements of interactive scenery. Almost all of the cells of the prison contain one of these buckets: the mugger, thief, black knight, and Wormbrain all have access to one, while the fifth is at the disposal of a corpse slumped against the wall of an empty jailcell. The one exception is the jailcell holding the two pirates, who seem to have overturned theirs.
While all of the buckets have a search options, the player can only reach one of them: by twice refusing to pay the fine issued by Shantay for informing him to be an outlaw, the player can be sent to the cell occupied by the skeletal corpse, thereby gaining access to their bucket. When searched, the message "I am NOT going through that..." is displayed in the chatbox. This message hints at the true function of these buckets, which is further revealed through its examine text, which joyously exclaims the cells to include en-suite facilities. The term 'en suite' is commonly used to indicate that a room has a private bathroom coupled to it, and is euphemistically employed here to imply the buckets are used as improvised toilets.
