Duke Mephitis

Duke Mephitis was a chthonian demon who served as a legatus in the Zarosian Empire. He remained loyal to Zaros after Zamorak's betrayal, and lead the garrison at the fortress of Paddewwa at some point prior to its destruction in the Third Age.[1]

The golem encountered during Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire's most recent information prior to its deactivation indicates that a bandosian force lead by General Graardor marched on Paddewwa while it was under Mephitis's control, but the outcome of this encounter is unknown.[2][3]

Trivia

  • Mephitis is the name of a minor goddess of poisonous gases in Roman mythology, from whose name the English word "mephitic" (meaning foul-smelling vapour) comes from. This is reflected by the duke's title.
