Type | river | |||
The River Lum is a river flowing through mostly Misthalin and the Wilderness, moving north-to-south. It is the second longest river in Gielinor. Its source is in the Wilderness. It runs as an underground stream until it briefly emerges at the Ferox Enclave, before it reemerges just north of the Wilderness border. It filters out to the sea on the Misthalin-Kharidian border. The town of Lumbridge is named after the river.
Travelling the river
Travelling on top of the river rather than across it is possible by using canoes. There are 4 normal stops, at Lumbridge, the Champions Guild, Barbarian Village, and Edgeville. Better canoes can travel farther, but require a higher woodcutting level.
With 57 Woodcutting, a Waka canoe can be made. This allows a player to travel through an underground portion of the river into the Ferox Enclave or level 35 Wilderness, although a return trip from the latter is not possible.
Fishing spots
The river has two separate areas where there are fishing spots for fly and bait fishing:
- On the west side of the river near Barbarian Village.
- On the east side of the river near Lumbridge.
Agility shortcuts
- Broken Raft, (requires mith grapple) a grapple shortcut between Lumbridge and Al Kharid.
Geographical information
- The length of the River Lum is some 480 tiles long measured from its emerging point north of the Wilderness border all the way down to the boat found south of the fishing spot south-west of the Lumbridge Swamp.
- The river is of a seemingly shallow density as there is a small island located in its midst between the northern Lumbridge farm and the Champion's guild. There is also a cow that grazes on this island which indicates that lore-wise the cows may be able to cross the water. Many rocks are scattered throughout the river indicating its shallow depth in the main body.
- The river has a small array of wildlife. Ducks being the only animal that swims here. Among plants the following can be noticed: bullrushes, daisies, thistles and ferns
- At the southern part of the river there is a variety of jungle plants and a variety of yew trees and strong yews.
- The water is seemingly deeper at its mouth (the southern part of the river), as a Broken Raft used for grappling can be noticed and there is a rowboat south of the fishing spot presumably to help the passenger float into the sea.
- From south Lumbridge and upwards to its northern end there is a series of common, oak and willow trees that follow the stream.
- Near the river, a variety of species may be found including human, goblins, spiders and cows.
- Among aquatic creatures, caught by the fisherman, the river is rich with salmon, trout, sardines and herring.
- At the very north end of the river's upper land portion a horde of skeletons may be noticed gathering beyond the Wilderness Ditch right at the river's sinking portion.
