Rotten tomatoes are inedible items obtained by filling a compost bin with tomatoes and letting them rot, or by purchasing them from one of several places. They can be thrown at players stuck in a pillory or anywhere snowballs can be thrown.[confirmation needed]
Locations where rotten tomatoes can be obtained include:
- Emir's Arena's Shop of Distaste from Fadli.
- The Pelters' Veg Stall crate south of Emir's Arena's bank.
- The Pelters' Veg Stall crates near pillories.
- In western Seers' Village.
- Southern Varrock, between the general store and the ranged store, by the cages.
- North-west of the bank in Yanille.
- North of the bank at the centre of Hosidius.
- At the end of the Colossal Wyrm Agility Course.
They are used in the quest Recipe for Disaster and Mourning's End Part II.
Rotten tomatoes can only be created in compost bins containing tomatoes and no other compostable items. Adding other compostable items to a bin containing tomatoes provides an option to convert it to create regular compost instead.

Trivia
- Prior to the Duel Arena's removal, when attempting to throw a rotten tomato at another player outside of the arena or a pillory, a chatbox message would say: I'm not going to throw fruit at that player, they might hit me!
- When collecting Rotten tomatoes from a Compost Bin with a full inventory, a chatbox message will say: You don't have space to hold a rotten tomato, squishy though it may be.
