An uncleaned find is a rock obtained in the Varrock Museum specimen cleaning activity. Players need to use it on a specimen table to reveal the archaeological artefact inside (see the list below). The cleaning activity can be done after finishing The Dig Site quest.
Players can take part in the cleaning activity in the south fenced-off corner of the museum. The tools necessary to do so can be found on the tool rack hanging on the wall. Players can then show the artefact to one of the archaeologists in the room, who will then tell them what to do with the item. Certain items are eligible for being displayed in the display cases. Other items can be put in the storage crates. On average, this results in 3-5 antique lamps per hour, depending on your efficiency.
Note: To keep copies of any items that can be turned in, the drop trick must be used. Handing them in removes any duplicates from the player's inventory and bank, and are unobtainable after being handed in.
Cleaning finds
Drop rates estimated based on 712,667 samples from the Drop Rate Project, unless otherwise cited.
Note that while attempting to clean a find, there is a 14% chance that it will crumble to dust, and the specimen will be lost. If so, the following game message is shown:
The find crumbles to dust in your hands - oops! Better not let the professionals see that one!
The following drop rates assume the find has already been successfully cleared of soil.
Unique artefacts
![](/img_auth.php/thumb/Museum_display_case_locations_ground_floor.png/300px-Museum_display_case_locations_ground_floor.png)
After one of the following artefacts is uncovered, it will not be rolled again while it is either in the player's inventory, or has been put on display. The drop will then be replaced by a chance at rolling the unremarkable find table. Each displayed artefact is worth 10 Kudos.

- ^ The clean necklace can be shown to one of the nearby archaeologists, who will teach the player how to enchant a ruby necklace into a Digsite pendant. The clean necklace is then removed from the player's inventory, and cannot be reobtained afterwards.
