Vampyrium is the home world of vampyres, yarasa, and the nylocas. It is described by Lord Drakan to have blood-red skies and forests of darkwood.[1]

History

Many years ago Vampyrium was discovered by the god Zaros, who descended upon it. Zaros taught the tribal vampyres of society and culture and thus laid foundation to the vampyric society. With Zaros' teachings the vampyres eventually became the dominant species of the planet, their organisation and cooperation making them able to outmatch their Yarasa competitors.

Eventually eight Vampyre Houses rose up to form an aristocracy that supposedly governed the whole of Vampyrium. The Houses' rule was not harmonious and clashes between them were common. Nevertheless the structure of the society was quite stable and lasted for millenia. It was not till a young Lowerniel Drakan took leadership of House Drakan, that this changed. Lowerniel Drakan had on numerous occassions proven his strength through combat, and he was eventually able to subjugate the other seven houses under the Drakan family's rule. The Ghrazi and Pyrah Houses were essentially wiped out.

In the Second Age of Gielinor, Zaros once more returned to Vampyrium and requested the vampyres to join him and contribute to the Zarosian Empire. Many vampyres left the world to join Zaros including the most prominent leaders of the various Vampyre Houses. It is not known how this affected the Vampyrium society.

Several millenia later Lord Drakan, who in the meantime had rebelled against Zaros, conquered Hallowvale and waged numerous wars against other kingdoms, returned to Vampyrium, the world seemingly still as he remembered it. He hunted down Xarpus, the King and last of the yarasa, which he brought back to Gielinor to be used as a beast in the Theatre of Blood.
