Arthur, King of the Britons, ruler of the kingdom of England

Britain is the home realm of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, who crossed into Gielinor in the year 132 of the Fifth Age.[1] In addition, the Lady of the Lake, Morgan Le Faye, and Sir Mordred are all believed to be native to Britain.

Little is known about the realm of Britain. It is said to encompass the kingdom of England, of which Arthur was the ruler.[2] That said, he is occasionally also hailed as King of the Britons, indicating that Arthur may have had dominion over the whole realm at the height of his power, before traversing into Gielinor.[3] Arthur's history of conquest is hinted at in the avowal he has "seen the horrors of war first hand".[4]

Britain is the source of various objects of power that currently reside in Gielinor, chief among them the holy grail, which likewise appears to possess the means to navigate realms, through some unknown and independent mechanism.[5] The wizard Merlin meanwhile was part of Arthur's band of cross-dimensional travellers, though he made the journey encased in a magical crystal, which he managed to get himself trapped in while spelunking in an English cave.[6] In light of the curious nature of these events, it is quite possible that Britain is a silly place.

Though all known inhabitants of Britain have sought to escape it, a prophetic phrase is often repeated among its exiles, vowing they will return to Britain in its time of need.[7] Far from being doubted, this prophecy eventually coming to pass appears to be generally accepted and even expected by the local populace.[8]
