Al the Camel is a Bactrian camel who wanders around in front of Al Kharid Bank.
Players (members only) can talk to him while wearing a Camulet.
If the player is halfway through My Arm's Big Adventure quest or has completed it, the player can obtain Ugthanki dung by talking to Al. This method can't be used during The Feud. Eventually, after talking for a while, Ugthanki dung will appear on the ground. Use a bucket on the dung to place the dung in your inventory. This cannot be repeated immediately, without switching worlds.
He is not attackable.
Without the Camulet, if the player right clicks Al, the player character says, "If I go near it, it will probably bite my hand off". Clicking to continue will show: The camel spits at you, and you jump back hurriedly.
Alternately the player character may say, "I wonder if that camel has fleas...", or "Mmm looks like that camel would make a nice kebab." The responses may be: The camel tries to stamp on your foot, but you pull it back quickly or The camel turns its head and glares at you.
If the player is wearing a Camulet, then after the player's initial remark, Al will say "Oh, it's you again. Have you come back to listen to my poems?" The player can choose between "I'd love to!" and "No, thank you."
If choosing "No, thank you." Al will respond, "Ah well. I shall return to writing poems to Elly's beauty."
Al the Camel is in love with Elly the Camel, so if the player instead chooses "I'd love to!" Al will respond, "That's so kind of you. Which one would you like to hear?" "'Shall I compare thee to a desert's day' is my finest yet, but I've also composed others."
The player can choose between 'Shall I compare thee to a desert's day' or 'This Is Just To Say' - parodies of William Shakespeare and William Carlos Williams respectively. If choosing "Shall I compare . . ." Al will respond, "That's my favourite poem".
“ | Shall I compare thee to a desert's day Thou art drier and more rough-skinned. |
” |
— Al, Shall I compare thee to a Desert's Day
|
After reciting the poem, Al says, "Ah, Elly, how beautiful you are."
If the player chooses instead, "This Is Just To Say", Al will respond, "I wrote this poem when I went to the oasis to nibble at a tree, then discovered I'd left nothing for Elly to nibble. I was distraught."
“ | I have nibbled the cacti that were by the oasis, and which you were probably saving for lunch. Forgive me, they were delicious, so crunchy and so cold. |
” |
— Al, This Is Just To Say
|
After reciting the poem, Al says, "I wonder if she's forgiven me for eating her snack."

Trivia
- He appears in the Camel display in the Varrock Museum.
- Al is capable of producing dung upon request every 100 game ticks (60 seconds). Once he has finished, the produced dung will remain on the ground for 25 game ticks, allowing the player to collect up to a maximum of 8 buckets of Ugthanki dung. As buckets have a capacity of 2 litres, Al the Camel is able to produce 23,040 litres of dung per day.
