Burn
Burn is a temporary status effect that causes the player to lose a set amount of hitpoints over a period of time. Players who are burning will be dealt one hitpoint of damage every four ticks. Over the course of the burn, players will lose 10 hitpoints over 24 seconds (40 ticks).
The burn effect is currently only applied by the burning claws, scorching bow (when used against a demon), and eclipse atlatl (when used with the full eclipse moon armour set).
Similar mechanics
Other NPCs can inflict damage over time described as burns by the game, but these mechanics predate the burn status itself and are not truly considered as "burns" as the hitsplat uses the regular damage hitsplat rather than the burn hitsplat, and do not stack more than once.
- The fires launched by the Alchemical Hydra during its flame phase can deal up to 25 damage if hit, then subsequently dealing 5 damage for 5 hits.
- The burning orb that may appear during the fight with Akkha periodically deals 5 damage for several hits, and is able to spread to adjacent unaffected players.
- The Great Olm's burn attack deals 6 instances of 5 damage at intervals of 8 ticks, and lowering combat stats by 2 each time.

Trivia
- Casting Monster Examine on certain monsters indicate that they can be immune to burns, and that there are three tiers of severity for burns: weak, normal, and strong. However, as only strong burns are currently accessible, the exact effects of weak and normal burns are not known.
- Although burn will damage enemies who are praying ranged, enemies such as Dusk who are immune to ranged damage will take no damage from burn even when applied by Burning Claws.
