Akkha is a powerful apparition encountered at the end of the Path of Het, within the Tombs of Amascut raid. Once a human warrior dedicated to the god Het, he eventually came under the influence of Amascut and was used by her to imprison Het.
History
Akkha was once a human warrior who dedicated himself to the god Het,[1] he eventually believed that the god had abandoned him, leading him to join the Children of Rebirth, a cult dedicated to the goddess of rebirth - the original form of Amascut prior to her corruption into the Devourer.[2] The cult believed that, in order for her to rebirth them in perfect form, achieving a perfect death was essential.[3]
When the time came for the cult to initiate their rebirth, they performed a ritual and called upon Amascut, sacrificing themselves in her name by imbibing a lethal poison.[4] While the rest of the cult perished, the poison failed to kill Akkha, leaving him on the verge of death. Amascut would soon arrive and seal him in a sarcophagus, trapping him in a tormented state between life and death.[5]
With Akkha in tow, Amascut performed a ritual to lure Het to her. Though Het was well aware that it was a trap, he had a sense of duty to the warrior who had once dedicated his life to him.[6] However, instead of facing Amascut, he faced the manifestation of a vengeful Akkha, and was distracted long enough for Amascut to overpower and imprison Het.[7]
An adventurer would later defeat Akkha in order to free Het, who would leave some unusual ashes behind. The adventurer collected them and brought them to the High Priest of Sophanem, asking them to cremate the ashes in order to give him a proper send-off.
Mechanics
Akkha will always have protection prayers active against two attack styles, so players may only attack him with the remaining style. At set intervals, he will switch protection prayers and attack styles. Including the Stay Vigilant invocation, Akkha will always cycle his attack styles in the following pattern: melee, range, and magic, and will always swap his attack style. Without Stay Vigilant active, he will do this after every special attack, which takes seven auto-attacks to perform. He will also do this if he cannot attack his target for a minute.
Akkha's attacks cannot be fully blocked by prayer similarly to Kephri. His melee attacks hit the hardest, can cleave onto other players next to his main target and will be used if anyone is underneath him even when chasing his main target.
After reaching 80% of his health, Akkha will generate four shadows of himself in the four corners of the arena. Once one of these four shadows are dispelled, Akkha must be lured to the quadrant of the dispelled shadow to be damaged, as he will channel immunity from his shadows otherwise. This will be repeated at 60%, 40% and 20% intervals.
Akkha has a number of special attacks that he uses:
- Detonate - Akkha will mark all players for detonation. The damage from this attack can be avoided by not standing in the same row or column as another player, as the player will detonate in a + shaped pattern. This attack can also be negated by having every player stand on the same tile.
- Memory Blast - Akkha will disappear, and the symbols of the four sections of the arena will glow in a certain order. Players must remember this order and stand in those sections to avoid the blast that occurs throughout the rest of the arena. Alternatively, a skilled player can run/walk past the blast to take no damage.
- Trailing Orbs - Akkha will summon orbs in a trail behind players as they move around the arena. Stepping on an orb will cause it to explode and deal damage to the player. This attack can be avoided by simply standing still, as no orbs will be able to spawn behind you, or by simply avoiding stepping on any of the orbs.
After using a special attack, Akkha will aggro onto the player closest to him. If all players are on the same distance, he will prioritise whoever has the highest defence bonuses.
Upon having his health depleted, Akkha will make his final stand, restoring 20% of his maximum health before merging into one of the shadows in the four corners of the arena, with Protect from Magic and Missiles active, making melee the only option against him. He will launch numerous orbs around the arena that will damage players on impact should they touch them. After three successful hits, Akkha will swap places with another shadow, repeating until the encounter ends in success or failure.
