Elemental weakness
Elemental weakness is a stat assigned to monsters that makes them weak to the elemental spells from the standard spellbook. The elemental spells include the strike, bolt, blast, wave, and surge spells. It does not include spells which could be viewed as elemental, such as Flames of Zamorak, or spells from other spellbooks, such as Ice Rush.
For every percentage point of elemental weakness that an NPC has, the player will gain an extra 1% magic damage and 1% magic accuracy to their attacks. The bonus to magic damage is added after all previous magic damage sources, such as equipment or bonuses from the Slayer helmet (i) or Salve amulet (i).
List of NPCs with elemental weaknesses
The elemental weaknesses are generally grouped in a few categories. Wind spells are generally more effective against ghosts and some ghostly monsters, as well as skeletons and aviansie. Water spells are generally more effective against fiery monsters, such as drakes and chromatic dragons. Earth spells are more effective against metallic dragons and wyrms, and fire spells are more effective against icy monsters, and bug-like or grassy monsters. A monster's elemental weakness can be seen in the 'Other Attributes' tab when using the Monster Examine spell.
