A book of knowledge is the reward from Surprise Exam random events. Reading it grants experience equivalent to 15 times the level of the selected skill, 50% more than a genie lamp's 10 times multiplier. Two books of knowledge cannot be obtained at once, however it is still possible to get a second Surprise Exam random event and the reward will be either an uncut gem or coins.

If no inventory space is available, the book will be put on floor, but once picked up it cannot be dropped.

Attempting to bank a book of knowledge yields the message: "A magical force prevents you from banking this item!".

The book is lost upon death.
