Choc-ice can be bought from a local vendor named Rokuh in Nardah, who runs Rok's Chocs Box. They are sold for 30 coins each, and heal 7 Hitpoints when eaten. If a bar of choc-ice is brought while venturing through the desert, it will automatically be consumed when the desert heat sets in, providing both its healing effect as well as quenching the player's thirst. That said, manually eating choc-ice does not reset nor delay the onset of desert heat. Choc-ice can nevertheless come in handy as an alternative to bringing waterskins to the desert. Although waterskins are refillable and provide up to 4 uses each, choc-ice has the advantages of being essentially weightless and serving a dual purpose as a food. This can be particularly useful when scaling the Agility Pyramid.
Waterskins have priority over choc-ices when under the influence of desert heat, and will be consumed first if the player is carrying both in their inventory.[1] Bars of choc-ice can also occasionally melt while in the desert, regardless of any other measures taken to combat the heat, prompting the message: Your choc ice evaporates in the desert heat.
Choc-ices were invented by Rokuh, who sold them to the people of Nardah when their town had become cursed and they could no longer draw water from its wells.[2] Rokuh bought a box imbued with a powerful ice spell, ensuring its contents would never melt, even under the harsh desert sun.[3] He used this magical box (possibly an ice cooler) to store his new invention: a confection made of an iced cream coated with a layer of chocolate, which he called choc-ice.[4] Even after the curse has been lifted from Nardah upon completion of the Spirits of the Elid, its inhabitants remain eager consumers of the treat.[5]
Karamel, an enemy from Recipe for Disaster, drops a choc-ice when she is killed.
