A pottery oven (also known as a kiln) is used in crafting clay items that have been moulded from soft clay on a potter's wheel or with a mould. Unfired versions of clay items can be placed inside a pottery oven to harden them, producing a usable clay item and granting Crafting experience. Unlike shaping the soft clay, firing it has no Crafting level requirement.
The player places the unfired clay item in the oven, waits for a few seconds, then removes the fired clay object. There is, however, a small chance that the unfired items may be burnt in the pottery oven. The chance of cracking a piece of pottery decreases with higher Crafting levels, resulting in a guaranteed success rate at level 14 Crafting for all types of earthenware.
Free players can finish unfired bowls, pie dishes, and pots, while members can also fire cups, pot lids, and plant pots.
It would be useful to note that pottery cannot be fired in a furnace, and ores (for example, iron ore) cannot be smelted in a pottery oven.
