The Siege of Prifddinas was a result of the elven kingdom expanding into the east. The expansion further spread the elves' forces, allowing Lord Iorwerth, who had pledged himself to the Dark Lord during the eastern kingdom's time of prosperity, to betray the other elven clans and claim Prifddinas as his own.[1]

When Iorwerth broke one of the nine seals of Seren within the Grand Library, he mistakenly believed that a part of Seren herself was trapped within the Temple of Light.[2] He presented his findings to his mother, but because she refused to listen and he was unwilling to abandon Seren, he killed her and took her place as clan leader.[3] Continuing his determination to free the goddess, he and his clan sacked Prifddinas and seized the Tower of Voices.[4][5]

These events led to the Baxtorian campaign.

During that time, Lord Iorwerth turned away from Seren and pledged himself to Zamorak, the Dark Lord. A larger kingdom meant our forces were further spread. Lord Iorwerth took advantage of that. He claimed Prifddinas as his own." Arianwyn did not know at the time that the 'Dark Lord' was actually the fragment of Seren.

Seren is dead!] I thought the same once. That was until I managed to break one of the seals within the Grand Library. [...] That's how I discovered the truth. A part of Seren lives on, trapped within the Temple of Light."

I went to her, told her what I'd found, told her what we needed to do. [...] I loved my mother, but she was blindly loyal to this fool here, she wouldn't have any of it. I couldn't just abandon my goddess though, she needed us. So I did what had to be done. [Baxtorian: You killed her?] And I would do it again without hesitation. For Seren, there is no price too great."
