Advanced data
NPC ID2587

Skippy is a man found behind Hetty's house in Rimmington. He appears to be drunk and the player must make him sober to find out what happened to him. He wanders along the coast throwing bottles at the sea, resulting in a pile of broken glass and yells threats to seemingly no one, although after becoming sober he explains that he was attacked by mogres that dwell in the sea.

To sober Skippy up, a bucket of water must be used on him. Once this is done, he will say he wants some nettle tea. To make this, use some nettles with a bowl of water, then heat it on a range. Give it to him and he will then say he needs a hangover cure (made by mixing chocolate dust with a bucket of milk to get chocolatey milk, then mixing it with snape grass). Once this has been done, he will tell the player about the mogres that attacked him, and the player will learn how to slay mogres (level 32 Slayer required).

Tutorial Island

At times, Skippy can be found on Tutorial Island near the Gielinor Guide, and will allow players to skip the tutorial. During Old School RuneScape's launch he was placed onto Tutorial Island to help deal with the large amount of incoming players, and could teleport players straight to Lumbridge. During the launch of Hardcore Ironman Mode Skippy could be used to skip to Juan at the end of Tutorial Island, where people could choose their Ironman status before teleporting to Lumbridge. Skippy also appears on Tutorial Island during Deadman Mode events, and can teleport players to their choice of Lumbridge, Varrock, Falador, East Ardougne, and the Gnome Stronghold. Upon using Skippy, players will obtain all of the tutorial island starter items.

Skippy is not used on Tutorial Island regularly because having all players do the entire tutorial is a useful tactic to mitigate botting and allowing the tutorial to be permanently skipped would likely increase the amount of bots in Old School RuneScape.[1]

Trivia

  • Skippy is missing one boot, which is implied to be the forlorn boot that can be found at Mudskipper Point. The boot can be given to Skippy, to which he replies Thanks! Now I have two right boots!, though this does not result in him actually wearing the boot.
