Void Knight equipment, often referred to as the void set, void armour, or simply just void, is a set of armour which can be purchased from the Void Knights with the commendation points earned from Pest Control. To buy or equip any of the items, a player must have 42 Attack, Strength, Defence, Hitpoints, Ranged, and Magic, along with 22 Prayer.

Void Knight armour contributes Defence bonuses to all stats equally (including Magic and Ranged) without lowering any attack bonuses. Wearing a complete set offers various combat bonuses which make the armour a popular choice for players using multiple attack styles.

Set effects

Void Knight armour has a set effect in addition to each item's stats. These depend upon which of the three Void Knight helmets are worn. An additional bonus is added when wearing the elite Void top and robe:

Helmet Base set effect Additional elite set bonus
Void melee helm +10% to melee damage and accuracy None
Void ranger helm +10% to ranged damage and accuracy[a 1] +2.5% ranged damage[a 2]
Void mage helm +45% to magic accuracy +5% magic damage
  1. ^ The Void Knight equipment set effect only affects the accuracy (but not the damage) of dwarf cannons and Comp ogre bows.[1]
  2. ^ The upgraded Elite ranger version provides an additional 2.5% ranged damage; a total bonus of 12.5% ranged damage instead of 10%.

In addition to one of the three helmets, the player also needs to wear all of the items below:

The Void Knight mace and Void seal do not contribute to the set effect.

Obtaining

Void Knight equipment requires commendation points, which must be obtained from Pest Control. Equipment can also be sold to the Dodgy Squire for 80% of the item's original commendation point value; for example, exchanging any of the helmets would return 160 commendation points, compared to the 200 the helmet originally cost.

Cost

In total, the minimum amount of points needed to get a set that provides the damage bonus is 850 commendation points. This cost includes only one helmet, and excludes the mace and seal. An additional 400 points are needed to upgrade the robe and top to Elite Void Knight equipment, for a total of 1250.

Players will need an additional 400 points for the other two helmets; this brings the total points needed for a full set of elite void in every style to 1650.

Gaining commendations

Players who wish to get the top, bottom, gloves, and one helmet must win the following number of games for the set:

Novice None 284 09:28 3
Novice Easy 213 07:06 4
Novice Medium 170 05:40 5

Uses

Compared to other Ranged armour, the Void Knight ranged set generally increases max hit but has less accuracy making it good versus low defence monsters, but worse against high defence monsters. The Void knight melee set, however, typically offers better accuracy at the expense of a lower max hit compared to its competitors. This has the effect that in PvM situations, the Void Ranged set is best used against monsters with low Defence, while the melee set better competes with other melee gear on monsters with higher Defence.

A notable use for Void armour is when killing Vorkath, especially when paired with a dragon hunter crossbow, which has a 30% bonus in accuracy and a 25% bonus in damage. For Barrows, Void armour aids switching between combat styles to adapt to each Barrows brother's attack style and weakness. Void can also be used as a low-cost, inventory space-saving, reasonably effective Raids set-up by those who cannot afford more expensive gear.

The set can be used to speed up Slayer tasks when a Slayer helmet isn't a priority. For example, when fighting undead, a Salve amulet (e/ei) can be used instead of a Slayer helmet. Conversely, when a Salve amulet is not useful, it should be noted that the boost to Ranged accuracy and damage is 10% with Void Ranged. However, on Slayer tasks, the Slayer helmet (i) and black mask (i) provides a bonus of 15% Ranged accuracy and damage, which coupled with the accuracy of black dragonhide or Armadyl armour, results in higher damage per second than the 10% boost from Void.

Combat style Paired with Pro/Advantage Con/Disadvantage
Melee Godswords, Dragon defender or Dragonfire shield High Attack: tremendous accuracy.
High magic defence: somewhere between black d'hide and blessed d'hide armour.
High Strength: slightly inferior to Bandos armour.
Biggest loss to Defence (except Magic), certainly compared to higher levelled armour.
Ranged Chinchompas (Grey/Red), toxic blowpipe for effective training or other good training weapons, for fewer expenses. Like in other combat styles, capable of giving accuracy boost while not on Slayer tasks.

Increases max hit for ranged, which is only otherwise possible with Masori armour or crystal armour when using a crystal bow or bow of Faerdhinen.

Slight loss of Ranged accuracy, slight Defence loss, compared to Black d'hide armour; considerably less of a problem when fighting things that are weak to Ranged.
Magic Staff of the dead In general, an increase in overall Defensive stats, especially Ranged Defence. Loss of Magic accuracy; considerably less of a problem when fighting things that are weak to Magic.
