Chinchompas are one-handed, multi-target, stackable Ranged weapons requiring level 45 Ranged to wield. Chinchompas can be obtained by box trapping grey chinchompas in the Piscatoris Hunter area, the Kourend Woodland, or on the Isle of Souls. This requires 53 Hunter and completion of the Eagles' Peak quest, and will give the player 198.4 Hunter experience per catch. They have a catch rate of about 146/255 at 53 Hunter and a guaranteed chance to catch at 95 Hunter.[1] To use chinchompas in combat, they must be wielded in the weapons slot. Chinchompas are thrown like darts or throwing knives; however, they explode on impact. In PvM, they can hit up to 11 targets in a 3x3 area. In PvP, the cap is 9 targets. They cannot be picked up again from the ground after being thrown, and Ava's device does not return them. Throwing a chinchompa at a group determines the maximum hit for the whole group, so if the chinchompa hits a 0 on one member of the group, it will hit a 0 on all of them; if it hits a 10 on one member of the group, it will hit up to 10 on all of them. The accuracy roll made on the initial target uses the 'heavy' ranged defence for determining the opponent's defence roll.[2]
Attack speed: Fuses are used to describe the attack speed for throwing chinchompas. It is just another name for the conventional styles of ranged attacks.
- Short fuse (accurate): 4 ticks
- Medium fuse (rapid): 3 ticks
- Long fuse (longrange): 4 ticks
Chinchompas have a base attack range of 9. Long Fuse increases attack range by 1. (10 is the maximum attack range.)
Note: Because chinchompas are live animals, if a player dies with chinchompas in their inventory or equipped, the chinchompas will run away and cannot be retrieved. However, if a player dies in the Wilderness, the killer can pick up the killed player's chinchompas.

Chinchompa guide
Using grey chinchompas is a practical way of training Ranged and Hitpoints since combat experience per hour is determined by how much DPS (damage per second) the player can deal. This causes high demand for chinchompas, and thus they are generally expensive, but cheaper than their stronger counterparts, the red and black chinchompas.
It is best used against multiple aggressive targets occupying a 3x3 (or smaller) space and piled together, such as the Skeletons of Ape Atoll or the Maniacal monkeys in Kruk's Dungeon, as these monsters are highly aggressive and easily stack on top of each other, meaning that you will deal plenty of damage against them.
Chinchompas' accuracy is based on the distance from the target.[3] For larger monsters, it's the target's tile closest to the player.[4]
