Sir Leye is one of the Temple Knights that test your skills during the Recruitment Drive quest. The player must fight him using no armour, food, or potions. Sir Leye has been blessed by Saradomin himself so that no blade may harm him. As such, the player must either use the nearby steel warhammer (as it is the only non-bladed weapon) or fight unarmed to kill him (the other nearby weapons provided can be used to damage Sir Leye, but cannot kill him). If the player is wielding a bladed weapon when he dies, they will fail the test.

Out of the seven possible tests given to the player in the Training Grounds, it is guaranteed they will have to fight Sir Leye.

A player fights against Sir Leye.

To easily defeat Sir Leye, having at least 25 Attack, Defence, Strength, and Hitpoints is helpful, but not required.

Trivia

  • Sir Leye's name is a play on the word "Surly".
  • Prior to an update on 9 November 2022, Sir Leye could only be defeated by female characters, as it was said he had been blessed by Saradomin so that no "man" could defeat him. His former invincibility against any man may have been a reference to the prophecy of Glorfindel, featured in J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings, for the Witch-king of Angmar fell not by "the hand of man". The prophecy was fulfilled as he is killed by Éowyn, princess of Rohan.
