A dead orb is an unobtainable item released alongside the Underground Pass quest. Previously, it was a fifth orb of light that could not be obtained, and it was silently renamed to "Dead orb" in an update on 15 June 2017.

During the Underground Pass quest, the player is required to collect four orbs of light. The first three spawn on the ground and can easily be picked up, however the fourth is in front of a swinging log that must be disarmed. The item that appeared on the ground was a fake orb that was actually an object, and was programmed to trigger the trap if players attempted to pick it up. To give the illusion of being real, an invisible Orb of light item was set to spawn on the same tile, so a red dot would appear on the minimap.

After disarming the trap, the real orb would be manually placed in the player's inventory, and both fake orbs (the object and the invisible item) would disappear. However, as a result of an oversight discovered in 2017, if the player disarmed the trap with a full inventory, the invisible orb item would not disappear and could be picked up. Since this made progressing in the quest impossible, the orb was renamed to "Dead orb" and no longer spawns ingame.
