Red topaz bolts are steel bolts tipped with red topaz bolt tips. Red topaz bolts can be created through the Fletching skill. A player must first have 48 Fletching and take a cut red topaz and use a chisel with it to make 12 red topaz bolt tips, granting 3.9 experience. Attaching red topaz bolt tips also requires 48 Fletching, and each red topaz bolt tip attached to a steel bolt gives 3.9 experience. Once the red topaz bolt tips have been attached, the steel bolts become red topaz bolts.

Red topaz bolts can be enchanted through the spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Red Topaz) with level 29 Magic. The spell enchants 10 Red topaz bolts at a time, and once they are enchanted they become Topaz bolts (e) and gain a special ability.
